About Us

Optometrist Doctor Edward Chow Orthotool was co-developed by Orthokeratologist Doctor Edward Chow. Doctor Chow graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1973, and has been practicing in the Toronto area for over 35 years. Doctor Chow owns and manages three successful practices, and specializes in specialty contact lens fittings and Orthokeratology.

Doctor Chow sits on the Board of the Orthokeratology Academy of America and has successfully treated numerous difficult cases in Orthokeratology with the help of Orthotool. He has been using the software for over ten years, and is one of the most knowledgeable practitioners of it.

Doctor Chow’s goal is to share his knowledge on Orthotool so that other practitioners can benefit from this software as well.

The Ortho Tool software purchase was the best invesment that I ever made practicing ortho-K along with the trial set to define the lens design. I have been using Orthotool for the past few years for most of my initial Ortho-K fitting and the success rate improved in a great deal when the diagnostic fitting was incorporated. It is a great tool as a learning guide also and I do play around with the parameters to determine the changes in tear film profile. The tear film profile is a great way to visualize the tear volume under the complex lens design and allows to manipulate all the curves for any changes. I have been using this software for the aspheric and the multifocal designs also. As an orthokeratologist, this software is the MUST- TO- HAVE to enjoy the designing your own lenses and also as a learning tool.
